Your 2008 - Your Choice

Psychologists, academics and experts all agree – when we make a commitment to achieve something, to ourselves, we have under 10% chance of making it happen – of seeing it through. When we make a commitment to a loved one, that figure goes up to around 25%, and yet when we make a commitment to a complete stranger it soars to over 75%.
In other words, for all the things you want to achieve in 2008 – making a commitment here – a written, stated promise to other leaders throughout the world, your chances of achieving it soar. And you connect with others who are there to support, encourage and help you.
So, are you serious about what you are going to make a true decision, dusts off that dream, and take action in 2008, or just carry on talking about it…?

I seem to be receiving more and more of these – You know the sort of thing: "Send this to 10 people within an hour of reading it or you will receive bad luck"It is a form of bullying, that is on the increase. These are at best unpleasant and at worst destructive in terms of time, volume of traffic and personal wellbeing. By the way, simple solution, if you are worried about these, send them to mysevenfriends@nkdleader.com and we’ll take the risksWhat do you think about these chain mails? please let me know

Customer heaven - Customer Hell

I was travelling around the UK last week – by train
One moment of Customer Heaven, One of Customer Hell – please share your experiences of these two extremes – on this new thread (start a thread iwasgobsmacked)
Heaven:
When I bought my ticket at Leeds, to go to London, the details I received about my journey were incredible. More so, the guy turned his computer screen round so I could actually see what prices were available for what trains. The real wow for me was that when the screen went blank for no reason, instead of blaming “IT” or saying “this happens all the time” he simply said “Oh, that wasn’t supposed to happen – it must have been me – I do apologise”
Hell:
I was running late at York and had to get the next train to Leeds – the information boards were down so I went to the Information desk and asked: “What time is the next train that goes through Leeds” – he looked at his timetable and said “Four minutes, Platform 8” – I set off. Then he called me back and added: “It doesn’t stop there, though.” Stupid me – I had asked what time the next train goes through Leeds, not what time does the next train stop at Leeds. In situations like that, I cannot advise o=r help anyone do anything civil!

Can someone, anyone, please get Spain's King Juan Carlos and Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez together, in a room, so they can resolve their uncalled for, and unneeded, dispute.Any volunteers?
I suppose it is better telling each other to “shut up” that turning to violence, but as we all look to our leaders to be role models, what sort of leadership are they choosing here? And how will they be remembered?

Just a few short years ago this headline could have meant an invasion, as anything else. Indeed, it was far more likely to have that meaning, or that of a rare, state visit, than its real meaning.Pakistan is in India to play cricketAnd on the day of the latest one day internationals in the series, we can all use this as an example of how sport can heal, and heal so much.

Last Sunday a 26 year old, Gabriele Sandri, lost his life after being shot by a policeman, apparently by accident. It was a tragic death and our sympathies go out to his family. Regardless of the rights or wrongs of his involvement in a mass brawl involving rival football supporters, because that is why he was where he was, that is how he was labelled. He was not, first and foremost, a man, a son, a human being, he was, first and foremost, a football fan. This tragedy and its labelling hits on levels far the shooting of Gabriele, as, because it happened at a “football” occasion, it led to widespread riots at further football matches.I suppose my question is, what has the tragic death of a young man, at a non-descript service station, got to do with football?

The biggest challenge to the future of democracy, and leadership, in Pakistan, is ensuring that President Pervez Musharraf has an alternative to further death and destruction. Yes, I know the present road to national disaster has been created by him and his army, but before they (internal or external) go down the overthrow route, with thousands more losing their lives, let’s consider one overriding fact. He is in a fast-closing corner. He might value, and choose, a face saving fire escape, as an alternative to simply coming out - fighting.

Yesterday was Remembrance Day when our thoughts turned to the past – let us remember all those nations, citizens and human beings that are at “war” right now. I write “war” as a catch-all for military conflict.
So, whatever your religious, political or geographical beliefs or home, let us think about those dying in wars in:Turkey and Iraq - over Kurdish extremist attacks into Turkey.
Afghanistan and Iraq – over the war on terror or oil prices, or both
India and Pakistan - over the control of Kashmir
Pakistan and Israel - over the control of Jerusalem amongst other things
Russia and Chechnya – over the Chechnya people
Plus : Sudan, Mexico, Algeria, Colombia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Myanmar (formerly Burma), and the list goes on.(With thanks to Yahoo Answers)
