To be or not to be

Is it worth being a somebody, or is it worth remaining a nobody? Better to have that 15 minutes of fame or not?

I had 15 minutes of local fame and it didn't do much for me. On the other hand I could have allowed myself to become a local celebrity for a while. So what is best?

I would like to explain what the 15 minutes of fame was but I can't really. i am such a modest chap.

Yes Paul it was to do with sporting achievement. Something that really rocks your boat I know.

Being somebody has a certain fulfilment I imagine and it is worth rememebering this. You are already somebody. Everybody everywhere is a 'somebody' as you put it. They might not even know it yet. We all have unique gifts and it is about finding out what we are good at and letting ourselves discover how good we are at something. So your question is rather irrelevant. We are all who we want to be and we can all become whoever we want to be. It's simple.

It depends what you want - if you want fame - seek it - if not don't . Be aware fame may mean no private life - (see my comment about the MP's expense scandal) so don't start crying about the downs if you chased the ups and get there. I dont' seek fame at all and don't like attention in a crowd generally although  I am happy to take the lead in a group or sing in front of an audience or make a presentation if need be. But I wouldnt want people I don't know speaking to me willy nilly in the street when I went out  half asleep in my PJs to buy a pint of milk at 6 in the morning.
