Head Girl Speech Tips Required?
As Head Girl I have to make a speech at the annual Prize Giving, It needs to be about five minutes long and not boring!
I'm worried i will not come across as well as a possibly could, any tips on how to make the best of out my speech would be much appreciated.
Thankyou

Bullet points on cards, not a lengthy address, would be favourite. Keep it punchy, and try and engage with the audience and get them on your side. Best of luck.
I was a head boy and my speech was short and to the point. Tell them you are happy to be head girl, will always try to be a good example to the others. That's it. Easy. Don't over do it.
I agree with Mary - You need to engage with your audience, so start by thinking about them and what they might want to hear about - what excites them? Be yourself and speak from the heart about the things you are passionate about! Don't just read bullet points from a card, tell a story with emotion and bring your points to life! It's daunting speaking in front of a large crowd of peers but do try and have fun and enjoy the 5 minutes, while getting your message across. Don't worry if you make a mistake - we all have and will continue to make mistakes for the rest of our lives - correct yourself and move on. Finally, do ask for feedback afterwards and learn how you can do things better next time.
ACt confident and you will be confident - dont try to speak quietly or be shy shout it out loud and clear andyou will soon be confident and your audience will relax as they will feel you are in control...
I thought this article was very useful and may help you with your confidence and your audience perception of you. Good luck!
Jessica please let us all know how it went
Thanks Rosalind
Thank you all for your comments and advice.
Although I was nervous the speech went well, and everyone was very complementary!
Thanks again
