Should a team manager remain aloof from the team, or integrate?

There are those who believe that manager are better in the workplace if they work alone are wrong in my opinion. What's yours?

Dear Chris I am not clear on your question do you mind expanding it a little as it doesn't make sense to me. sorry if I'm being thick.

There has to be a certain interaction otherwise there is nothing by way of motivation as his/her colleagues might end up resnting their boss. Aloof is such an old fashioned word. Nobody should be aloof these days. It's just not in the business vocabulary.

 

Having been a member of a team and a team leader - being present in all senses of the word brings with it the opportunity to understand what works well and what becomes a barrier. However my only recommendation is never get too close to any one individual if you are a leader and never get drunk - quickest way to loose respect!!!
