What constitutes a good trainer?

Training

How is a trainer's methods best evaluated?

0

Someone who is prepared to make the most of what you've already got, not what he thinks you should do because it works for him/her.

someone who doesnt just preach and teach, they need to invite input from the delegates and provoke discussion we all learn best when we are involved. The trainer is not there to prove they know best  they are there to enable people to learn- sadly, thinking you are there to prove you know best rather than getting people to do their best is a mistake young managers often make  in this day and age.

A good trainer has to be able to educate / pass on concepts to a variety of personalities - generally at the same time! They need to understand the verbal / visible / non-visible clues as to weather each person is taking on board the learning they desire. If this is not happening as expected then the trainer needs a formidable toolkit to be able to try different techniques in order to get the message across. I have found the best way to measure a good trainer is through consistently positive feedback from delegates and when criticism is offered, a positive approach to provide a solution is offered by the trainer.
